It’s been a few weeks since the last update, but one or two things have happened. The biggest is that the chassis has arrived – what an intimidating moment that was. When this black matrix of metal arrived it really sank home what a big task lies ahead of us. Maximum respect for those who build their own chassis, you won’t catch me trying that.
We bought the Locost Starter Kit, and it includes the fully-welded chassis (powder coated in black), wishbones for front and rear suspension, poly-bush set for all the wishbones, rear uprights (these replace the uprights from the donor) and aluminium front upright adaptors.
Our front uprights and rear hubs from the scrapyard are still in for machining, and the rear uprights (part of the starter kit) are also in hospital getting their bearings pressed in.
Our build HQ is now D’s place, and he has to walk past the chassis every time he gets in his car. Hopefully this will maintain an adequate level of guilt (which he can convey to me) to provide constant motivation to keep building.
For various personal reasons the build will pretty much halt until March – then we intend getting really stuck into it.
