“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

B and D are just two chaps who like driving cars round race-tracks. We’ve both been to a couple of track-days at Zwartkops, and it’s great fun. It’s also a great way to lose a lot of money, bending your day-car when exceeding the bleeding edge of traction.
Then, via the interwebs, we found out about Locost – the sports car based around the Lotus 7 and which can be built for GBP250. Brilliant. A bit more searching revealed that it’s quite hard (although not impossible) to achieve this budget. Nonetheless, it’s a lot cheaper than replacing even the airbags on your day-runner.
So Locost seemed a sensible idea – apart from having to actually build our own car. We’ll just have to see how that goes…
Neither of us has a mechanical background, so this website is going to be written from the basics. Hopefully it will be a useful resource to anyone else who is keen to get going, but who doesn’t know much about engines. Or circlip pliers. Or screwdrivers.
There is another motivation behind this site – hopefully it will hold us accountable to finishing our build.
